Hengaw: The asylum application of the family members of a Kurdish political activist has been rejected for the second time by the Swiss Immigration Office, and the family faces the risk of deportation to Iran.
According to a report received by Hengaw human rights organization Hengao, the asylum application of Abed Sarmasti, a Kurdish political activist, and his family has been rejected for the second time by the Swiss Immigration Service, and members of the family of four face deportation to Iran.
Abed Sarmasti, 41, is from the village of Shanrash in Ravansar district of Kermanshah province. He has been a member of the secret organization of the Komala Party of Kurdistan of Iran since 2008. He fled to Kurdistan Region of Iraq in 2010 after being discovered.
In 2015, this political activist and his family were forced to leave the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and go to Switzerland, where they applied for asylum, but so far their asylum application has been rejected twice by the Swiss Immigration Office, and they now face deportation to Iran.
Since Abed Sarmasti has been politically active both in his hometown, the Kurdistan region of Iraq , and Switzerland for the past five years, and has participated in most of the protests against human rights violations in Iran, his life will be in serious danger if he is deported to Iran.
Accordingly, the Hangaw Human Rights Organization, while expressing concern about the possibility of deportation of Abed Sarmasti , calls on all human rights organizations to do their utmost to prevent the deportation of this political activist.
