Hengaw : A young woman from Mahabad has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for membership in ISIS and is currently being held in Urmia Central Prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, a 29-year-old woman from Mahabad, identified as "Senur Khalifani", has been detained in Urmia Central Prison for two and a half years. The manner of her arrest and the sentencing process have not been reported in the media.  Upon obtaining the relevant information, Hengaw reports on the prisoner's condition for the first time.

According to an informed source, Senur Khalifani went to Mosul in January 2015 with her husband and another couple and became a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), but after two years with another woman from Mahabad with an identity  Halima Toure left ISIS and secretly returned to Iran.

After three months of secret life in Iran, Senur Khalfani in Javanrood and Halimeh Toure in Sanandaj were finally arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Service and transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center. After three months of interrogation, they were transferred to the Urmia Central Prison.

These two women were released on bail after six months. In 2018 they were tried by the Second Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia on charges of "membership in ISIS." Senour Khalifani was sentenced to 15 years in prison and Halim Toureh to five years in prison.  Both were arrested and transferred to Urmia Prison.

Halim Toure was pardoned last year and released from prison, but Senour Khalifani has been detained in Urmia Prison for more than two years without the right to leave, and has now been transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center for two months.  It is noteworthy that these two individuals did not have access to a lawyer or legal advice at any stage of the proceedings.

Sources said that the wives of the two women were killed in Mosul.
