Two Kurdish political prisoners in Naghadeh Prison are being kept in addiction ward

Hengaw : Two Kurdish political prisoners from Oshnaviyeh district of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province who were arrested in March 2021 to serve their sentences and transferred to Naghadeh Prison are being held in the prison's addiction ward and have been deprived from all prisoners’ rights .

According to a report received by  Hengaw Human Rights Organization Rahim Rafati and Rahman Tabesh, two Kurdish political prisoners from Oshnaviyeh, who were detained about a month ago to serve their sentences of 3 years and 7 months each, are being held   in the prison yard and in a cell with 8 addicted prisoners .

According to an informed source, these two political prisoners are deprived from all rights  of political prisoners, including the right to go to the prison yard and buffet, as well as to move to other wards.

Rahim Rafati and Rahman Tabesh were arrested by Iranian  Intelligence Service in Oshnaviyeh  on July 2020 , along with four other citizens, and were temporarily released on bail two months later.

In November of 2020 , these two citizens were sentenced by the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Oshnaviyeh to 3 years and 7 months in prison on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and to 8 months in prison on charges of conspiracy against the regime.  3 years and 7 months the imprisonment sentence  is applicable.  The ruling was upheld by the provincial court of appeals.

Rahim Rafati and Rahman Tabesh were finally arrested on Monday, March 8, 2021, to serve their prison sentences and transferred to Naghadeh Central Prison.
