Two labour activists from Saqqez sentenced to prison

Hengaw : Mahmoud Salehi and Osman Ismaili, two labour activists from Saqqez district of Kurdistan Province who are currently being held in the city's central prison, have been sentenced to prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization.

Mahmoud Salehi and Osman Ismaili were sentenced by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Saqqez to three and six months in prison, respectively, on charges of "propaganda against the regime" by holding International Labor Day celebrations.

The court session of these two labour activists was held online on Tuesday, June 25, in Saqqez prison, and the sentence was officially announced to them on Thursday, May 27. They were arrested on Sunday, May 16 , after being summoned to the Iranian  Intelligence Office in Saqqez.

According to the sentence issued and according to Article 38 of the Islamic Penal Code adopted in 2013, citing Article 6 of the Penal Code governing Article 37 of the Islamic Penal Code, Mahmoud Salehi was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and fined with 2 million Tomans ($100) and Osman Ismaili to 6 months imprisonment and fined with 6   Million Tomans ($300).
