Henagw : One of the Kurdish students from Mahabad, who was arrested during the wave of mass arrest of Kurdish citizens in January 2021, has gone on hunger strike in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization. Farzad Samani, a student from Mahabad, has been on a hunger strike since Sunday, May 29, 2021, in protest of the extension of his detention, for the sixth time in a row,

Farooq Samani, Farzad's brother, stated in an interview with Hengaw that : "Judge Gholami, the judge of the Third Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabd has extended Farzad's detention for the sixth time in a row  to force him to admit and accept the accusations of the IRGC intelligence forces."

“ My brother Farzad, in a meeting he had with his family, stated that he was under pressure to confess and accept the accusations of the IRGC intelligence forces.” Added Farooq Samani.

Farzad Samani, a final year graduate student of Sociology at Kharazmi University in Karaj, was simultaneously arrested by Iranian security forces in Karaj on Saturday, January 9, 2021 and transferred to Urmia.

More than 115 Kurdish citizens were detained by Iranian security forces during the mass arrests of Kurdish citizens in January 2021.
