Hengaw: A young Kurdish man from Urmia, who was detained by intelligence forces last week, died under torture by security forces.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Friday, July 16, 2021, a Kurdish citizen from Urmia, identified as "Rahman Ahmadian", 38, Nariman's son, was tortured to death by security forces in the city's Ettelaat Bureau.
Rahman Ahmadian was arrested on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, along with several other citizens, including one of their neighbors, by Urmia Intelligence agents.
A relative of Rehman Ahmadian, who did not want to be named for security reasons, told Hengaw: "On Sunday, the Ettelaat contacted Ahmadian's family and said that Rehman had hanged himself in the detention center and that he should come and receive his body. ”.
"They said, 'We took the body to a forensic doctor ourselves and did not allow us to take the body to a forensic doctor,' and they said they would send you a forensic report in two months," he said.
Another close associate of Mr. Ahmadian said in a call that "the effects of the beating and bruising on his body, including Rahman's throat and shoulders, were obvious."
Rahman Ahmadian is from the village of Sir Heydarlou in Urmia, and his body was buried in his native village on Sunday amid tight securities.
