Hengaw: On the eve of March 8, International Women's Day, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has prepared a statistical report on the murder and suicide of women in Kurdish cities in Kurdistan. According to the report, women homicide has increased, and women suicide has decreased.
According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, from March 2021 to March 2022, at least 94 women has suicided in different cities of Kurdistan, and 41 women were killed.
According to the report, female homicides have increased by 12 cases equal to 30% compared to the same period last year, and female suicides have decreased by 14 cases equal to 15%.
Murder of 41 women in a year
According to this report, most of the murders were motivated by family disputes, with 17 women killed by their husbands, and 3 women killed by their ex-husbands.
The number of murders of women in Kurdistan has increased by 12 cases equal to 30% compared to the same period last year that was 29 cases.
According to this report, the majority of the murders was recorded in Kermanshah province during this period with 18 cases, equal to 44% of the total cases.
The names of at least 6 women in Kurdistan who were killed with honor motives are as follows: Nasrin Pahlavani from Qasr Shirin, Shakiba Bakhtiar from Kermanshah, Sara Pirzadi from Hersin, Jeiran Poor Yaghoub from Piranshahr, Faezeh Maleki and Sahar Moradi from Sanandaj.
It is worth mentioning that the news of Jeiran Poor Yaghoub has not reported in the media, and after several months with the follow-up of Hengaw's colleagues in Piranshahr, this murder has been registered as honor killing.

Suicide of 94 women from March 2021 to March 2022
From March 2021 to March 2022, at least 94 cases of female suicide have registered in Kurdistan, which were 108 cases in the same period of time last year. It has decreased by 14 cases equal to 15%.
Family conflicts are the motive and cause of 71% of suicides, and West Azerbaijan Province (Urmia) with 52 cases, equal to 55% of the total cases, has the largest number of female suicides.
Also, according to this statistic, 22 cases of the suicides, equal to 23.5% of the total cases, were teenager girls below18 that 3 of whem were 13 years old.
