Hengaw: Friday, August 19, 2022

On August 19, 1979, Khomeini's Jihad Fatwa was issued against Kurdistan, and today is the 43rd anniversary of the government's crimes in Kurdistan.

Following the issuance of Khomeini's fatwa, Iran's armed forces entered the cities of Kurdistan in the same manner as the Serbian army entered Srebrenica and massacred. But the crime in Kurdistan has gone unpunished till now.

Until now, no independent investigation commission or committee has been formed regarding the war in Kurdistan after the issuance of Khomeini's Jihad fatwa, and no official statistics of the number of dead people, who were mostly civilians in different cities of Kurdistan, have been published.

Hengaw calls for the formation of an international fact-finding committee to investigate the crimes committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran government in the Kurdistan war and the international recognition of these crimes by the world community and access to justice for the rights of the victims of these massacres in Kurdistan.

For years, the crimes committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kurdistan War have been denied intentionally or unintentionally.

Therefore, Hengaw believes that in order to deal with the culture of impunity, the crimes committed in Kurdistan should be subject to an independent international investigation and a lawsuit mechanism should be established for the victims.
