Bukan: Seven IRGC Members Killed and Injured in Armed Clash

At least four members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed and three others were seriously injured in an armed clash with an unidentified armed group near the city of Bukan, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province. One of the injured was airlifted to Urmia for medical treatment due to the severity of his injuries. 

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the armed confrontation took place at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at a checkpoint on the Bukan Dam road between IRGC forces and an unknown armed group.

A source told Hengaw: “During this clash, at least four IRGC members were killed, and three others were seriously wounded, all of whom were transferred to Qolipour Hospital in Bukan.”

It has been learned that one of the injured, a member of the IRGC, was transported by helicopter to medical facilities in Urmia due to the severity of his injuries.

Additionally, Iranian security forces have warned the medical staff at Qolipour Hospital against disclosing any information and have confiscated the mobile phones of several hospital personnel.

Following the clash, the area has been heavily militarized, and all movement on the Bukan Dam road has been prohibited. Local farmers attempting to access the area have also been denied entry.

So far, no official statement has been made by IRGC-affiliated media, and no Kurdish party or group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
