A man from Ilam died after being tortured by security agents

During the Ilam protests last week, Mohammad Abdullahi, a guy from Ilam, was detained by the government forces and later died as a result of torture.
 

During the demonstrations on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in front of the governorate building in Ilam, 36-year-old Mohammad Abdullahi from Ilam was detained by the security forces, and after hours of torture, he eventually died, according to the report that Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, received.
 

 Hengaw stated on Wednesday night that numerous individuals were detained and several other citizens injured as a result of direct government force fire during the Ilam protests in front of the governor's building.

"The Ilam police force called Mohammad's father at 1:30 am on Thursday and said that their son was injured and was hospitalized in Khomeini Hospital," a relative of Abdullahi's family told Hengaw.
 

This source says that Abdullahi's family went straight to Khomeini Hospital in Ilam, where hospital staff informed them that such a person was not admitted. After an hour, the police contacted Abdullahi's family once more and informed them that their son had passed away and that they should pick up his body from the Behesht Reza mortuary in Ilam tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
 

"Bruise marks were obvious on Muhammad's whole body, and his head was gravely injured owing to a major physical attack" another relative of Abdullahi's family who viewed Mohammad's body said.
 

It should be mentioned that on Thursday, October 13, the security forces handed over the body to his family after getting a written commitment from Ibrahim Abdollahi, Mohammad's father, confirming that his son's death was natural. His burial service took place in Behesht Reza Cemetery that same day under tight security.
 

Hengaw has been informed that the Mohammad Abdollahi family has been threatened by the security agencies, telling them they have no right to speak to any media.
