Mohammad Javaheri, a Kurdish student from Sardasht, was sentenced to 4 years, 7 months in prison, and 74 lashes by the Iranian judiciary after participating in protest rallies at Tehran University.
According to the report received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, Mohammad Javaheri, 27 years old and a master's student in youth studies at the University of Tehran, was sentenced to 3 years and 7 months in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Nima Afshari on the charge of "association and collusion." He was sentenced to 1-year imprisonment on the charge of "disturbance of public order."
Also, according to the court's decision, this student has been banned from leaving the country for 2 years and from being a member of groups and associations. It should be noted that according to Iranian law on consolidation of sentences, his severe sentence is enforceable.
Mohammad Javaheri was arrested on Sunday, September 25, 2022, after being expelled from the Tehran University dormitory and while returning to Sardasht city by the Iranian government forces at the Gharb passenger terminal in Tehran.
This Kurdish citizen from Sardasht, after enduring 21 days of detention, was finally released on bail of 500 million tomans (about 14,000 USD).
Currently, the security department of Tehran University, which colluded with the government forces during the arrest of Mohammad Javaheri, has banned this student from entering the university campus.
According to what has been reported about the condition of Mohammad Javaheri's family, the father of this student suffered a stroke due to the mental pressure caused by the arrest and the issuance of heavy sentences against his son, and after several surgeries in the past month, he lost his ability to speak.
