The judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran sentenced Mehdi Javanmardi and Yasin Fathi, civil activists from Dehgolan city, to 69 and 68 months in prison, respectively.
Mehdi Javanmardi and Yasin Fathi were each sentenced to 69 and 68 months in prison by the second branch of the Dehgolan Criminal Court after spending approximately two months in detention, according to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Mehdi Javanmardi has been given a sentence of 9 months in prison for "propaganda against the system," 18 months in prison for "disturbing public order," and 42 months in prison for "gathering and collaboration against national security."
Also, Yasin Fathi has been sentenced to 8 months imprisonment for "propaganda against the system," 18 months imprisonment for "disturbing public order," and 42 months imprisonment for "gathering and collusion against national security."
The two civil rights activists were given a severe term of 42 months in prison, which is enforceable under the Consolidation of Sentences Law.
These two civilians were taken into custody by government agents at the end of September. After spending nearly a month being questioned in an intelligence detention facility, they were moved to Sanandaj jail, where they are still being held.
It should be noted that Mehdi Javanmardi and Yasin Fathi were denied their basic rights by authorities, including the right to access a lawyer, during their detention.
