The Iranian judiciary in Ilam Province has issued its decision regarding the case of 22 citizens who were arrested during the protests and sentenced them to a total of 74 years of imprisonment.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Iranian court in Ilam, based on the indictment of the prosecution, convicted 22 Kurdish citizens for "committing a crime against internal security, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, insulting the leadership, and being a member of a group or a branch of the communities formed inside the country to disrupt the security."
These citizens' identities have been confirmed to Hengaw. They are: Naeem Mirzaei, Mohammad Seyfi, Mehdi Bavir, Mehdi Hosseini, Fatemeh Beygpour, Zainab Bavir, Golnaz Beygpour, Sajjad Joshani, Mohammad Mohammadzadeh, Ishaq Ab Salan, Ruhollah Sheikhi, Jalal Khairkhah, Qodratullah Jafarzadeh, and Saman Sheikhi, Abdur Rahim Mohammadi, Ramin Ebrahimi, Farshad Azadi, Reza Darayi, Mukhtar Nouri, Sakineh Alirezaei, Mojtaba Abbasi, and Masoud Moradian.
According to the verdict, each of Naeem Mirzaei, Mohammad Seifi, Mehdi Bavir, Mehdi Hosseini, Fatema Beygpour, Golnaz Beygpour, Sajjad Joshani, Mukhtar Nouri, Mojtaba Abbasi, and Masoud Moradian has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Additionally, two years in prison were imposed on Zainab Bavir, Sajjad Joshani, Mohammad Mohammadzadeh, Eshaq Ab Salan, Ruhollah Sheikhi, Jalal Khairkhah, Qodratullah Jafarzadeh, Saman Sheikhi, Abdul Rahim Mohammadi, Ramin Ebrahimi, Farshad Azadi, Reza Darayi, and Sakineh Alirezaei.
According to the documents obtained by Hengaw, these orders are related to the protest gathering of these citizens at around 19:00 on September 21, 2022.
Also, the verdict was issued on October 19, 2022, by the Iranian court in Ilam.
"Destruction of public property, such as banks, garbage cans, and traffic kiosks," is also mentioned as a part of the citizens' violations in this verdict.
This verdict was prepared based on a report that was "signed by 30 police officers," according to the explicit claim of the petition.
Among the names, one named Jalal Khairkhah is mentioned as "unknown," and Ruhollah Sheikhi is also from Abdanan; the rest of the list includes the citizens from Dehloran.
