A man from Sanandaj named Ahmad Salehi died a few hours after being arrested by the anti-narcotics police forces and tortured by these officers.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ahmed Salehi, a 35-year-old resident of Nayser Sanandaj, was reportedly murdered on January 25, 2023, just hours after being tortured following his detention by anti-narcotics police.

According to the statements of an informed source, Ahmed Salehi was attacked and severely beaten in his house on the suspicion of possessing drugs, but despite the absence of drugs, the police still arrested him.

This source also stated that Ahmad Salehi died due to multiple blows to the head with a baton and that his body was subsequently transferred to Tohid Hospital in Sanandaj.

The security agencies immediately intervened and forced Salehi's family to announce the cause of their son's death as a heart attack.

The body of Ahmad Salehi was handed over to the family today after obtaining a written commitment.

It is important to note that Salah Salehi, Ahmad's brother, protested on Thursday night after seeing his brother's body at the funeral and noticing the evidence of torture. He was then arrested by government forces, and as of now, there is no information on his whereabouts.
