Athlete Parham Parvari from Saqqez was violently detained during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" (Women, Life, Freedom) uprisings in Tehran and later charged with "Muharrabeh". Seven months and twenty days later, he is still in prison in an undetermined state with a concerning health condition.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Parham Parvari, a 25-year-old engineer from Saqqez, is in the eighth month of his imprisonment at the Evin prison and has lost an unusual 20 kg of weight. He also suffers from insomnia.
During the 230 days of Parham Parvari's imprisonment, he had just one short meeting with his family and lawyer, according to an informed source.
Parham Parvari is due to appear at his first hearing on Sunday of the following week, May 28, even though his court appearance has been delayed twice, a source close to Parvari's family told Hengaw.
This engineer from Saqqez, who was charged with Muharrebeh (enmity against God) along with 20 other political prisoners without prior notice, was transferred to Evin Prison from Great Tehran Penitentiary.
On October 3, 2022, Parham Parvari was violently detained by government forces while returning from work in the middle of widespread protests in Tehran.
