Khalegh Ahmadnejad, a Kurdish origin from Bukan, while serving mandatory military service as a soldier took his own life inside a military barracks in Ajabshir East Azarbaijan Province.
According to reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for human rights, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Khalegh Ahmadnejad from “Gavmish Goli” village in Bukan county has committed a suicide inside a military barracks in Ajabshir.
Mr. Ahmadnejad has taken his own life inside one of the military barracks in Ajabshir using his services weapon. As of this moment the underlying reasons that precipitated Khalagh Ahmadnejad's decision to commit suicide remain unknown.
The statistical records recently compiled by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization's Center for Statistics and Documentation reveal a disconcerting pattern of suicides among Kurdish soldiers during their mandatory military service. Disturbingly, within the past month alone, at least three soldiers in Urmia, Qasreshirin and Ajabshir, have tragically taken their own lives using military weapons for reasons that yet to be revealed.
