The prosecutor of Mahabad stated Peyman Galwani was accused of "numerous cases of fraud" and that his death was brought on by a "severe illness" in an interview with government media.

In contrast to the Mahabad prosecutor's claim, during the investigations, Hengaw was informed that Peyman Galwani was never transferred to the central prison of Urmia and was instead kept in the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center until he lost his consciousness.

The results of torture in different parts of the body are also evident in the images obtained from the body. Taking into account that Mehrab Akbarpour was personally involved in the grave violations of human rights committed during the "Jin Jiyan Azadî" movement, He essentially lacks the authority to make any comments on this subject.

Moreover, he denied that security forces' gunfire triggered any deaths among Mahabad residents.

In several incidents, Hengaw has consistently urged independent international investigations by forensic specialists and Doctors Without Borders, but the Islamic Republic of Iran has never agreed to such collaboration.

Peyman Galwani was brutally apprehended by security forces at his family home in Mahabad on Sunday, June 25, 2023, and was transferred to the Urmia Intelligence detention center. Later on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, He was transferred to Khomeini Hospital in an unconscious state from this institution's detention facility.

Throughout his stay in the hospital, the security officers denied access to his relatives. Only his sister managed to visit him once, noting the presence of extensive bruising on his body, head, and face. Additionally, the prosecutor's office did not provide authorization for taking Peyman Galvani's body from the mortuary within a short period of time so that his "suspicious death" could be investigated.

Following a few days in the hospital at Khomeini Hospital due to a severe lack of consciousness, Peyman Galwani eventually passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023. On Monday, July 10, 2023, in the late evening, his body was buried at Mahabad under strict security.
