Three Kurdish labor activists from Sanandaj were sentenced to a total of 63 months of imprisonment

Kamal Karimi, Khabat Mahmoudi, and Shadman Abdi, Kurdish labor activists from Sanandaj, have been sentenced to a total of 63 months in prison by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in this city.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, headed by Judge Saidi, sentenced Kamal Karimi to 9 months in prison on the charge of "membership in political Kurdish opposition to the government",  Khabat Mahmoudi to 18 months in prison on the charge of "collusion against internal and external security", and Shadman Abdi to 3 years in prison on the charge of "establishing an illegal group in Iran"

 

.It should be noted that the prison sentences against Kamal Karimi and Khabat Mahmoudi have been suspended for two years, and Shadman Abdi's prison sentence has been suspended for two and a half years.Kamal Karimi, Khabat Mahmoudi, and Shadman Abdi were arrested on the evening of May 17, 2023, by the Iranian government forces at Hemin Abdullahi's family home, a young Kurdish man who was killed during the recent nationwide protests (Jin, Jiyan, Azadî movement).


These Kurdish labor activists were temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison in June 2023 by posting bail until the end of the proceedings.
