Iqbal Shabani, a labor activist from Sanandaj who was recently detained for a period of time, has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 

According to the information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, On Wednesday, July 18, 2023, Iqbal Shabani, a resident of Sanandaj, was sentenced to a term of two years and six months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of this city, presided over by Judge Saeedi, for the charge of "membership in the Komalah party." However, the sentence has been suspended for a period of thirty months.
 

The final hearing regarding the charges against Iqbal Shabani took place on Sunday, July 16 of the current year, at the Iranian Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj.
 

Iqbal Shabani was apprehended on Saturday, May 20, 2023, by the Iranian Intelligence Department forces in Sanandaj. Following a period of 15 days, he was subsequently transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison. Eventually, he was granted temporary release on bail pending the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
