Artin Rostami, 19, arrested to serve six-month prison sentence

Artin Rostami, a 19-year-old Kurdish man previously arrested during the January 2026 protests, has been detained to serve a six-month prison sentence and transferred to Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafouyeh Prison).

Based on information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rostami, from Huyeh village in Sanandaj (Sine) and a resident of Tehran, was arrested on Sunday, September 6, 2026, after being summoned to a sentence enforcement branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. He was subsequently transferred to Fashafouyeh Prison.

Rostami had previously been arrested by security forces in Tehran during the January 2026 protests. Following interrogation, he was temporarily released on bail pending a final ruling in his case.

The Tehran Revolutionary Court subsequently sentenced Rostami to six months in prison on charges related to his participation in the protests.
