225 citizens arrested by the Iranian government forces in July 2023

Based on the statistics registered in the Statistics and Documents Center of Hengaw, during July 2023, at least 225 citizens were arrested by Iranian government forces in Iran, and this figure has increased with 57 cases, equivalent to 34%, compared to June 2023, when 168 citizens were arrested.
According to this report, at least 131 Kurdish and 19 Baloch citizens, as well as 29 women, 7 children, and 11 Baha'i citizens were arrested or kidnapped by the Iranian government forces in July.
More than 58% of the arrested citizens were Kurdish citizens.
Based on the Hengaw’s statistics, at least 131 Kurdish citizens have been arrested by the Iranian government institutions in July, which has increased with 54 cases equivalent to 70% compared to June and it is also equal to 58% of the total number of citizens arrested in Iran in June 2023.
Also, during the past month, at least 19 Baloch citizens, equivalent to 8.5% of all detainees, 9 Azerbaijani-Turkish citizens, equivalent to 4% of all detainees, and lor and Bakhtisri, as well as 7 Gilak and Mazandarani citizens, equivalent to 6% of all detainees, were arrested.
Detention of religious minorities:
Arrests of followers of religious and religious minorities continued in July as in the previous months by the Iranian government institutions in which at least 16 religious activists were arrested by the Iranian government institutions, which increased up to 220% compared to 11 cases in June 2023.
According to this report, 11 of the arrested religious activists were followers of the Baha'i religion, 6 of them were women and 5 were men. Also, during the last month, at least 4 Sunni activists were arrested in different cities of Kurdistan and another activist was also arrested in Baluchistan.
The arrest of 29 women and 7 children in July 2023
Based on the statistics registered in the statistics and documents center of Hengaw, during the last month at least 29 women were arrested by the Iranian security agencies across Iran, which is equivalent to 13% of the total number of detainees.
It should be noted that last month, at least 7 Kurdish women activists and 6 Baha'i women activists were arrested by Iranian government institutions.
Also, in this period, at least 7 children under the age of 18 have been arrested or kidnapped in Iran by security and government institutions.
According to this report, 4 of the children who were arrested were Baloch children, 2 were Kurdish children, and one child was also arrested in Tehran.
Detention of teachers, students, and media activists
based on Hengaw’s statistics, in July 2023, at least one student named Nazila Marufian from Saqqez was arrested by the Iranian government institutions.
In this period, at least one university lecturer named Saman Pashaei from Saqqez was also arrested by the mentioned institutions.
It is worth mentioning that at least 8 journalists and media activists and 7 artists and actors were arrested by Iranian government institutions in different cities of Iran.
