Hengaw has been informed that Sonia Sharifi, a Kurdish student who was arrested for a month during the last year’s nationwide protests, has been once again kidnapped, interrogated, and tortured by Iranian government forces.
 

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Sonia Sharifi, a 17-year-old Kurdish student from Abdanan, Ilam province, was tortured and abused by Iranian government forces after being kidnapped.
 

According to informed sources, Sonia Sharifi was left alone in one of the streets of Abdanan after being threatened, interrogated, and tortured for more than two hours.
 

During her kidnapping, Sonia Sharifi was injured in several areas and was immediately treated by her relatives. She published a picture of her injured forehead on her Instagram page.
 

Sonia Sharifi, a student from Abdanan, was arrested by Iranian government forces on November 19, 2022. She was temporarily released on bail from Ilam Central Prison on Thursday, December 15, 2022, after almost a month of detention.
