A world bronze medalist in Alysh (belt) wrestling in Kazakhstan, Masoumeh Soleimani, from Khorramabad, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the court and tribunal of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 32-year-old Masoumeh Soleimani was sentenced to one year of imprisonment on the charge of "incitement to commit violent acts on social media". She was condemned by the 107th Branch of the Criminal Court of Khorramabad, headed by Judge Mustafa, on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
 
This judgment has been officially communicated to Masoumeh Soleimani, a referee and a wrestling coach. The judgment will be applicable after receiving approval from the Appeal Court of Lorestan.
 
On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Masoumeh Soleimani was arrested for the second time by Iranian authorities in Khorramabad city of Lorestan province, and later she was temporarily released on bail until the end of her proceedings.
 
It should be noted that she was arrested on November 16, 2019, during nationwide protests, and spent 32 days in Khorramabad Central Prison without any right of visitation.
 
This former wrestling champion was banned from sports fields for six months after returning from the World Wrestling Championships in February 2017.
