The health condition of Saman Pashaei, a university lecturer and former wrestling champion from Saqqez, has been reported as critical due to severe psychological and physical pressures and torture. Over the past nearly 50 days, he has been held in detention by the intelligence agency in Sanandaj (Sine), where he has faced coercive measures to extract forced confessions.
According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, Saman Pashaei, a native of Saqqez and a member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine in the United States, has experienced significant weight loss and loss of balance due to psychological and physical pressures during his detention at the Sanandaj Intelligence Office.
Informed sources have disclosed that Saman Pashaei was briefly allowed to meet with his family during the forty-fifth day of his detention, with intelligence agents present during the encounter. Sardar Pashaei, Saman Pashaei's brother, expressed deep concern about his brother's condition and attributed his well-being to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During his 48 days of detention, Saman Pashaei has been denied access to legal representation and has not even been informed of the charges against him. Throughout this period, he has been subjected to intense pressure and torture to extract coerced confessions.
On Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, Saman Pashaei was detained by the forces of the Intelligence agency on his way back from Sanandaj to his hometown. These forces subsequently raided his residence, conducted a search, and confiscated some of his personal belongings.
Saman Pashaei, a graduate in Physiology and Sports Nutrition, a university lecturer, and a member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine of the United States, was transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence detention center following his arrest.
