Farzaneh Barzehkar, the mother of the late Erfan Rezaee, was apprehended by Iranian government forces following her attendance at the memorial ceremony for Javad Rouhi, a political prisoner who was killed in Nowshahr prison.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, Farzaneh Barzehkar, the mother of Erfan Rezaee, was arrested by the Intelligence Department while leaving the location of the memorial ceremony for Javad Rouhi in Amol.
According to reliable sources, Erfan Rezaee's mother was transported to the Intelligence Office in Sari City subsequent to her detention by Iranian government authorities.
It should be noted that over the past two weeks, Farzaneh Barzehkar has been prohibited from visiting her son's grave by government authorities.
On Saturday, September 2nd, in response to the prohibition of holding her son's birthday ceremony at his grave, Farzane Barzekar conducted a ceremony at her residence and stated: "You prevented me from celebrating at his grave in Erfaniyeh Amol. I celebrated at his home. If you forbid me from celebrating at home, I will celebrate it in the streets."
Erfan Rezaee was fatally shot by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, during the popular protests in Amol City. He sustained two direct gunshot wounds to his shoulder and chest.
