Taha Rasoulian, a Kurdish artist and a civil activist from Piranshahr, has been sentenced to seven years and ten months in prison and 75 lashes by the Iranian Judiciary. He was sentenced to three months in prison in another case in connection with the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi movement.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights,, Taha Rasoulian, a Kurdish artist from Piranshahr, was recently sentenced to seven years and ten months in prison by the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabad, headed by Judge Ojaklou, on charges such as "membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Iran" and "action against national security".
Also, this well-known artist from Piranshahr has been sentenced to additional punishment including 75 lashes and a fine of ten million tomans.
In May 2023, Taha Rasoulian was sentenced to three months in prison and 40 lashes by Branch 102 of Piranshahr Criminal Court headed by Judge Reza Garhamani Saatlou for the charge of "disturbing public order and peace".
On Wednesday, January 18, 2022, Taha Rasoulian was arrested by Iranian government forces in Piranshahr without a court order and then transferred to Naghadeh prison. Finally, on February 21, 2023, he was temporarily released by posting a heavy bond until the end of the proceedings.
