Yousef Bakri, a resident of Mahabad who was arrested in July 2023, has received a prison sentence of three years and four months from the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Yousef Bakri, aged 38 and hailing from Mahabad, was convicted by the first branch of Mahabad's Revolutionary Court on charges of "cooperating with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan" and "participating in the (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) Women, Life, Freedom Movement." His sentence totals 40 months.
 

Yousef Bakri has been in detention facility for two months and 27 days and is currently serving his sentence in Mahabad Central Prison.
 

A previous report by Hengaw highlighted that Yousef Bakri was denied his basic rights, including access to a lawyer, during his detention.
 

Government forces arrested Yousef Bakri on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at his workplace without providing an arrest warrant.
