Yaser Nouri, a prominent Kurdish environmental activist hailing from Javanroud, has received a four-month discretionary prison sentence from the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was recently detained for a period.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 32-year-old Yaser Nouri, from Javanroud, has been sentenced to a four-month prison term by the fourth branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Kermanshah (Kermashan). He has been charged with "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran in support of opposition groups."

In an earlier report regarding the arrest of this environmental activist, Hengaw detailed an incident where Yaser Nouri was beaten on the streets of Javanroud by security forces, and these forces subsequently entered his family's residence, conducting a house search while resorting to violent threats.

Yasir Nouri was apprehended by security forces on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Subsequently, he was released on bail pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
