Sayad Darvishi, the brother of the late Farjad Darvishi, a Kurdish individual killed in the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi movement, has been held incommunicado by the security agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Urmia for approximately two weeks, and his custodial status remains uncertain.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since the last days of October 2023, Sayad Darvishi has been detained by IRGC intelligence agents on one of the streets of Urmia City. Since then, his well-being and location have been undisclosed.

The reasons for Sayad Darvishi’s arrest, the charges against him, and his custody status have not been disclosed as of the time of writing this news article.

In September 2023 and the days leading up to the death anniversary of their son Farjad Darvishi, the family experienced constant threats and intimidation. This pressure persisted until the memorial service for Farjad Darvishi was prevented from being held at his grave.

Furthermore, the family of Farjad Darvishi has once again faced pressure, similar to last year, to accept the compensation without regard to their complaint.

Farjad Darvishi, aged 23, from Balu village in Urmia, was directly targeted by government forces, resulting in severe wounds on the evening of Tuesday, September 20, 2022, on Valiasr Street in Urmia. Unfortunately, he lost his life while being transported to medical centers.
