Kurdish man lost his life under the torture of security forces in Iran

Mansour Salamat, a resident of Urmia whose identity has been confirmed, lost his life in detention, tortured physically and psychologically in one of the security detention centers of Urmia. During the year of 2023, at least 8 Kurdish prisoners have been killed under torture.

According to a reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday the 27th of December 2023, Mansour Salamat, from the village of "Pasan" in the Targavar region of Urmia, lost his life under torture in a detention center called “Nine Steps” in Islamic republic of Iran. 

Sources close to the victim's family state that Mansour Salamat was detained by security forces on charges of "possession of hunting weapons." He suffered a heart attack and lost his life under pressure and torture.

Security forces informed Mansour Salamat's family last night through a phone call that their son had suffered a stroke due to extreme stress and pressure, leading to his death.

The body of Mansour Salamat will be handed over to the family today, Thursday, December 28th, and will be laid to rest in his hometown.

According to statistics recorded by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, since the beginning of 2023, at least 11 prisoners in the prisons and detention centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been tortured, with 8 of them being Kurdish prisoners.
