Kurdish Cleric Arrested by Iranian Authorities in Urmia

Hasan Jang Khah, a Kurdish cleric residing in Slamas city (Urmia province), was arrested and relocated to prison in order to serve his previously issued 7-year imprisonment verdict.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, Hasan Jang Khah from Haft Khan village in Salmas County was arrested after his summons by the enforcement branch of Slamas Court. He was subsequently transported to Urmia Central Prison to serve his 7-year prison sentence.

This individual was recently sentenced to 7 years of penal imprisonment by the special clerical court of Urmia.

Hasan Jang Khah had been interrogated formerly for "protest against kolbars and local tradesmen massacre" and "association with Kurdish political parties in social media.".

This individual was arrested on his excursion to Dizaj Margavar village in Urmia on August 19, 2020, by the intelligence department forces and transported to the detention center of the mentioned department.

This Kurdish cleric was temporarily released on bail of 300 million Iranian tomans until the conclusion of his trial.
