Sunni religious activist Emad Mostafaei detained by Intelligence Department

Iranian Intelligence Department forces have detained Emad Mostafaei, a 19-year-old Sunni religious activist from Javanrud, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department forces raided Mostafaei's family home in Javanrud on Saturday, July 25, 2026, arrested him, and took him to an undisclosed location.

Hengaw has learned that Mostafaei was subsequently transferred to a security detention facility in Kermanshah (Kermashan).

The reason for his arrest, any charges against him, and his exact place of detention remain unknown. His family's efforts to obtain information about his whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
