Hengaw: During September 2020, at least 27 Kurdish citizens were arrested over political, civil and religious charges by Iranian security forces.

Based on the statistics of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, during September 2020, at least 27 Kurdish citizens were arrested by Iranian security forces over political, civil and religious activities.

According to the report, 21 people were convicted for political activities and cooperating with Kurdistan opposition parties, one was charged with civil activism, and two others were arrested for religious activities. During this period, two Kolbars and tradesmen were arrested too, although the reasons remain unknown.

Most of the arrests were made in West Azarbaijan Province with 12 cases. Kurdistan Province had eight cases, six in Kermanshah, and one in Lorestan.

Six of those arrested were female activists, one of who remains under custody up to the moment.
