Hengaw: On the eve of International Women's Day on March 8, Hengaw Human Rights Organization has prepared a statistical report on governmental violations against women's rights in Kurdistan, according to which the number of arrested women activists as well as activists sentenced to prison has increased compared to the last year.

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, from March 2021 to March 2022, at least 35 Kurdish women activists were arrested by the security services of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and during this period, at least 12 women activists were arrested and sentenced to imprisonment by various branches of Judicial system.

Detain of 35 female activists

According to this report, out of the total of 35 women activists who have arrested during this period, 2 of them were students, and 5 of them were below 18.

Also, the largest number of arrests of female activists has recorded in Kurdistan province with 19 cases, and 26 cases, equal to 74% of the total number of detainees, were arrested on charges of political activity and cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties.

Imposing imprisonment for 12 Kurdish activists

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, from March 2021 to March 2022, at least 12 Kurdish women activists were sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to, in total, 24 years and 7 months and 1 day in prison, and 3 years suspended imprisonment.

Of these numbers, 10 activists were sentenced to imprisonment for political activity and two for civil activity, and the largest number of the cases was registered in Kurdistan province, which was 4 cases.

Also, one of the activists who was sentenced to imprisonment with the identity of Roya Mohieddini from Paveh was only 18.
