Hengaw's Statistics Report on the Occasion of October 10, Over A Year 80 Kurd Citizens Executed

Hengaw:  Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights has prepared a report on the rate of Kurd citizens' execution cases in Iran on the   occasion of the World Day Against the Death Penalty. There are 55 cases less than last year. 

Over the last year from October 10, 2017 to October 10,2018 in Iran's prisons 80 Kurd citizens have been executed, based on the statistics center of Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights.

This statistics comparing to last year(from October 10 2016 to October 10,2017) has decreased to 40.7% meaning 55 execution cases.  

 

Charges of executed citizens:  

Out of the 80 executed Kurd citizens, 6 cases were charged of political activites, 9 cases doctrinal activities, 55 cases were charged of murder, 7 for crimes related to drug dealings and 3 people were executed on the charges of raping.

Death penalty sort by provinces: 

According to the statistics center of Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, 37 cases were from Urmia province, 28 from Kermanshan(Kermanshah) province, 5 from Ilam province, 3 from Sna(Sanandaj) province, 1 from Northern Khorasan province and 1 case was from Qazvin Province.

Ways of executins:

3 citizens in Salmas, Khoy and Ilam were executed in public places. Out of 135 execution cases in last year, 8 were exdcuted in public places meaning 5 cases more than this year. 

Putting these 3 cases aside, 77 citizens were executed inside the prisons. 30 cases in Urmia prison, 18 in Kemanshan(Kermanshah) prison, 12 in Karaj prison,  4 in Korram-Abad prison, 2 in Khoy Prison, 2 in Bandar-Abbas prison and in Esfahan, Shirvan, Birjand and Miandoab there were one in each.

Out of the 80 executed cases 2 were women and 78 were men.

Since 2002, October 10 has been known for the World Day Against the Death Penalty by the Human Rights' advocates.

In time being, death penalty has been abrogated in 104 countries in some which by referendum. Also, in 50 countries death penlty's laws have been banished. Only in 36 countries there are still death penalty laws.
