Hengaw – Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Iranian authorities have executed at least five prisoners, including two Kurdish prisoners and two Turkic prisoners, in prisons in Kermanshah, Zanjan and Kashan, according to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

All five had previously been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder under Iran’s qisas, or retributive justice, laws.

Two Kurdish prisoners, Mohammad Heydari, 31, and Abed Sharafi, 28, were executed at dawn on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in Kermanshah Central Prison, also known as Dizelabad Prison.

Heydari had been detained four years ago, while Sharafi had been imprisoned for three years in separate murder cases before being sentenced to death.

At the same time, Ali Zohrabi, 34, was executed in Kashan Central Prison. He was the father of a young child.

Zohrabi had been sentenced to death after being convicted of killing a traffic police officer during an altercation.

In a separate case, two Turkish prisoners were executed on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Zanjan Central Prison.

They were identified as Nasser Taheri, 44, from Zanjan and the father of two children, and Yahya Masoumi, 40, from Qazvin.

Taheri had been detained three years ago and Masoumi five years ago in separate murder cases.

None of the five executions had been publicly announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
