Hengaw : Akbar Gweli, a Kurdish citizen  from Sanandaj , who had previously been sentenced to prison for collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties  has been detained .

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, January 16, 2021, Akbar Gweli , a civil activist from Sanandaj, was arrested to serve a two-year sentence and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.

 Akbar Gweli was sentenced to five years in prison by the First branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, headed by Judge Hossein Saeedi, on Tuesday, April 14 , 2020 , on charges of "collaborating with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK)." Which this sentence was reduced to two years by court of appeals . 

 Akbar Gweli  was detained by Iranian  Intelligence Service In Sanandaj on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 , while returning from Tehran, and was released on bail of 300 million Tomans (US$12000) for three weeks until  court hearing.

 He had previously been detained on charges of arranging  Newroz ceremony in the village of Qasrian in Sanandaj in 2017 , and was sentenced to one year in prison by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court  in Sanandaj. This sentence was later reduced to six months by Court of Appeals.
