Hengaw: Shayan Saeedpour, a young man who had already been sentenced to death and escaped from Saqqez prison during a riot and being rearrested, was executed in the city's prison.

According to the report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday  April  21,2020, Shayan Saeedpour who was committed murder and sentenced to death as a teenager, after escaping from Saqqez prison and rearrest, was executed in the Saqqez central prison.

A close associate of Saeedpour told Hengaw that they had not even allowed the victim's mother who had already agreed to pardon Shayan, to enter Saqqez prison. The young man's family had met him for last time in Saqqez prison yesterday.

Shayan Saeedpour, the son of Salahaddin, had killed another Saqqez citizen identified  as Soleiman Azadi, on August 16,2015, when he was underage and has been in prison ever since.

The young man was sentenced to death by the first branch of the Kurdistan province criminal court on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, on charge of murder and the verdict was upheld by the supreme court in February of that year.

Shayan Saeedpour was born on September 21,1997, and was exactly 17 years,10 months and 25 days old at the time of murder.

Iran has issued death sentences and enforced them for teenagers, while Iran has signed the United nations convention in  1993 which prohibits the issuance of death penalty and life imprisonment sentence for the juveniles under the age of eighteen.

During the prisoner's revolt in Saqqez prison, more than 74 prisoners escaped. Shayan Saeedpour and Shoresh Morovati were among these prisoners who they rearrested 10 days after escaping on Sunday, April 5,2020, in Sabadlu village located in the border areas of Baneh city.

Mostafa Salimi, another prisoner sentenced to death in Saqqez prison, was executed in Saqqez prison on Saturday, April 11, 2020, after rearrest by Iranian security forces.
