At Least 11 Prisoners Executed in Iranian Prisons in June 2024

In June 2024, at least 11 prisoners were executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This number represents a decrease of 83.5% compared to May, when 67 prisoners were executed.

According to data compiled by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 11 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons during June 2024. The identities of 11 of these prisoners have been confirmed to Hengaw.

The highest number of death sentences were carried out in the Fars and Zanjan provinces, with three cases each. In the provinces of Yazd, Hamedan, Qazvin, Razavi Khorasan, and South Khorasan, one execution of a prisoner was recorded in each.

Notably, official Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated websites did not announce any of these executions in June.

 

Classification by charges:

In June, the majority of executions were related to charges related to drug crimes, accounting for 8 cases, equivalent to 73% of all cases. 


- Premeditated murder: 3 cases
- Drug-related crimes: 8 cases
