July 2024: 26 Kurdish Kolbars Killed and Injured at the Borders of Iran

According to statistics compiled by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 26 Kolbars were killed or injured at the borders of Iran in July 2024. Notably, 85% of these incidents resulted from direct gunfire by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Based on this report, five Kolbars were killed and 21 were injured.
The five Kolbars who were killed by direct fire in July are:
- Ayoub Mohammadi from Salas-e Babajani, Kermanshah Province
- Kian Zaini, 19, from Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province
- Rebwar Rashidi from Baneh, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province
- Ehsan Nawrozi from Gilan-e Gharb, Kermanshah Province
- Nazem Safari from Sarvabad County, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province
During this period, two children kolbars, Mohammad Àli, 15, from Sardasht, and Sina Naderi, 18, from Paveh, sustained injuries by direct fire from border guars of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The majority of the killings, totaling 15 cases, occurred along the borders of Kermanshah Province.
Causes of death or injury are outlined as follows:
- Direct shooting: 22 cases (5 dead and 17 wounded), accounting for 85% of all incidents.
- Physical assault: 4 cases (4 wounded), accounting for 15% of all incidents.
Breakdown of victims by province:
- Kermanshah Province (Kermashan): 15 cases (2 killed and 13 wounded)
- Kurdistan Province (Sanandaj): 5 cases (2 killed and 3 wounded)
- West Azarbaijan Province (Urmia): 6 cases (1 killed and 5 injured)
