Septembre 2024: 8 Kolbars Killed or Injured at the Borders of Iran

According to data compiled by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least eight Kolbars were either killed or injured along the borders of Iran during the month of September 2024. Of these cases, 87.5% were the result of direct gunfire by armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

One Kolbar was killed and six others were injured. Fardin Rostamnejad, a 34-year-old Kolbar from Paveh, who had been paralyzed last year after being shot by border guards, passed away on September 20, 2024, following months of hospitalization.

The majority of victims—five cases—were recorded along the borders of Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province.

Causes of death or injury are outlined as follows:
•⁠  ⁠Direct gunfire: 7 cases (1 killed, 6 injured), accounting for 87.5% of the total cases.
•⁠  ⁠Beating by border guards: 1 case (1 injured), accounting for 12.5% of the total cases.

Breakdown of victims by province:
•⁠  ⁠Kermanshah Province: 3 cases (1 killed, 2 injured)
•⁠  ⁠Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province: 5 cases (5 injured)
•⁠  ⁠West Azerbaijan (Urmia) Province: No cases recorded.
