14 Kurdish political and religious prisoners go on a hunger strike in Urmia central prison

 Hengaw: A group of political and religious prisoners in Urmia Central Prison went on a hunger strike to protest the non-implementation of a double-urgent  plan to reduce their imprisonment  sentence in this prison.

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, as of today, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, fourteen political and religious prisoners detained in the political ward of Urmia Central Prison have announced a hunger strike calling for a double-urgent plan to reduce their imprisonment sentences. 

 An informed source from Urmia Central Prison identified these 14 prisoners as : Dara Rashidi, Aran Tibash, Mohsen Mahali, Khosrow Zarestan, Behzad Abbasi, Seyed Aram Amin al-Salamzadeh, Farooq Lavashki, Javad Yousefi, Mohammad Hassanpour, Iraj Sufi, Hossein Osmani, Ebrahim Khalil Sadiq.  , Khalil Sadiq Hamdani , Salar Khalil Sadiq,and Tawfiq Abdullahi.

 According to Article 7 of double-urgent plan to reduce imprisonment, "in crimes against the internal and external security of the country, if the perpetrator cooperates effectively in detecting the crime and identifying other defendants, the suspension of part of the sentence is unimpeded."

 This plan has been implemented in all prisons in Iran and only has not been implemented for prisoners detained in the political ward of Urmia Central Prison.
