Two prisoners, including a child offender, hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison

The death sentence of two prisoners, both convicted of “premeditated murder,” was carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison. One of the executed individuals, Reza Shirzehi, was a child offender at the time of his arrest.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Reza Shirzehi, a Baloch prisoner from Zabol in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, and another prisoner, Hamed Pakdel, were hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Reza Shirzehi was arrested in 2020 at the age of 17 on charges of murder, and was convicted by a criminal court and sentenced to death. The sentence was later upheld by the Supreme Court. Over the past four years, Shirzehi served his sentence in multiple facilities, including Khorin Prison, Rajai Shahr Prison, and finally Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Hamed Pakdel was also convicted of premeditated murder, and was arrested several years ago and later sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, the executions have not been publicized by state-affiliated media or judiciary outlets.
