Hengaw – Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Ali Aghajeri Peyvand, a 22-year-old Lor man who was convicted of “premeditated murder” for an offense committed when he was 17 years old, was executed in Sepidar Prison, the central prison of Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Aghajeri Peyvand was executed at dawn on Monday, October 20, 2025, in Sepidar Prison. He had been sentenced to death five years earlier for a killing that occurred during a dispute over farmland, which sources say was unintentional.

Despite Iran’s obligations under international law, executions of individuals for crimes committed as minors continue. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Iran has ratified, explicitly prohibits the use of the death penalty or other cruel, inhuman, or degrading punishments against persons under 18 years of age.

The execution of Aghajeri Peyvand has not been reported by state-controlled media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
