Volunteer Kurdish language instructor Susan Hasan-zadeh, arrested in Bukan to serve prison sentence

Susan Hasan-zadeh, a civil activist and volunteer Kurdish language instructor from Bukan, has been arrested to serve her three-month prison sentence and transferred to the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Susan Hasan-zadeh was summoned to Police Station No. 11 in Bukan under the pretext of a complaint. She was subsequently arrested and transferred to the Law Enforcement Unit of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Bukan. After a few hours of detention, she was taken to Urmia Central Prison to begin serving her sentence.
Earlier in October 2024, Susan Hasan-zadeh was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court to three months of imprisonment on charges of "propaganda against the state."
On May 15, during a violent raid by intelligence agents at her home, carried out without presenting any legal warrant, she was arrested. She was held for nearly a month and released temporarily on June 12 after posting bail of 800 million tomans, pending the completion of her legal proceedings.
Hengaw previously reported that during her arrest, Susan Hasan-zadeh was denied access to legal counsel and was only allowed a brief phone call with her family.
