Death sentences of three prisoners carried out in Zahedan Prison

The death sentences of two Baloch prisoners, Omid Hosseinzayi and Khodabakhsh Ghanbarzehi (Barahi), along with a prisoner identified by the surname Rakhshani, were carried out at Zahedan Central Prison. All three had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Monday, December 9, 2024, the executions of the three prisoners—Khodabakhsh Ghanbarzehi, aged 40 and father of eight, Omid Hosseinzayi, aged 33 and father of one, and another prisoner with the last name Rakhshani—were conducted in Zahedan Central Prison. All three individuals were residents of Zahedan.

The Haalvsh news agency, which reports on developments in Baluchistan, stated that Khodabakhsh Ghanbarzehi and Omid Hosseinzehi were arrested in separate cases two years ago and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Zahedan on charges related to drug crimes. The three prisoners met with their families for the final time on the day before their execution.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been announced in state-controlled media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
