Prisoner secretly executed in Birjand Central Prison

The death sentence of a Baloch prisoner named Davood Qoljayi, a resident of Zabol in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was secretly carried out in Birjand Central Prison, South Khorasan Province, without granting him a final visit with his family. He had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the execution of Davood Qolajayi, 28, a resident of Zabol, was carried out in Birjand Central Prison.
As reported by the Haalvsh news network, this prisoner had been arrested five years ago on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran judiciary. He was transferred to the prison’s solitary confinement yesterday in preparation for the execution and was executed at dawn today without a final meeting with his family.
As of the time this report was published, the news of this prisoner’s execution, who was a father of one child, has not been announced in state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
