Two prisoners, including an Afghan national, executed in Shiraz Central Prison

The death sentences of two prisoners, including an Afghan national, were carried out in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz. The individuals, identified as Hamed Ranjbar and Kateb Seydnian, had been convicted of drug-related offenses and premeditated murder, respectively.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions took place at dawn on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Hamed Ranjbar, 40 years old and a resident of Kerman, had been in custody for four years on drug-related charges. Kateb Seydnian, an Afghan national, had been detained for three years on charges of premeditated murder. Both were sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Based on data recorded by Hengaw’s Center for Statistics and Documentation, at least 71 Afghan nationals have been executed in Iran since the beginning of 2024.
At the time of this report, the executions of Hamed Ranjbar and Kateb Seydnian have not been officially announced by Iranian state-affiliated media or judiciary-related outlets.
