Iran executes four prisoners across Rafsanjan, Shiraz, Semnan and Gorgan prisons

Iranian authorities have executed four prisoners, including a Turkmen man, at prisons in Semnan, Shiraz, Gorgan and Rafsanjan. The prisoners, Reza Salimi, Yadollah Shamsi, Ahmad Haji Hassani and Yaser Momeni, had been sentenced to death in separate cases involving murder and drug-related charges.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Reza Salimi, 27, from Semnan, was executed at Semnan Central Prison at dawn on September 5, 2026.

Salimi had been arrested five years earlier on a murder charge in a case linked to what was described as “honor” and was subsequently sentenced to death under Iran’s qisas (retributive justice) laws.

On September 2, Ahmad Haji Hassani, a 50-year-old Turkmen man from Gonbad-e Kavus, was executed at Gorgan Central Prison. Haji Hassani, who was married and the father of four children, had been arrested two years earlier on a charge of trafficking methamphetamine and subsequently sentenced to death.

Also on September 2, Yaser Momeni, a prisoner from Saveh, was executed at Shiraz Central Prison. He had been arrested approximately two years earlier on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court.

Separately, Yadollah Shamsi, 30, from Rafsanjan, was executed at Rafsanjan Central Prison on August 17, 2026. He had been arrested four years earlier on a murder charge and subsequently sentenced to death under qisas laws.

Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced any of the four executions.
