Arrests in Kurdistan reach 71

A Kurdish man from Sardasht, identified as Esmail Osmani, has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location, adding to the ongoing wave of detentions targeting Kurdish individuals.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 24-year-old Esmail Osmani was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his home.

The arrest was carried out by security agents using excessive force and without the presentation of a search warrant.

Esmail Osmani, an employee of the Sardasht Post Office, remains in an unknown location three days after his detention, and no information has been made available about his condition.

As of this report, there has been no explanation regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.

With this case, the number of Kurds arrested across various cities in Kurdistan during December has risen to at least 71.
